A new Honor smartphone is coming to town, but it’s not the Honor 20 flagship series we’ve been hoping for.
Honor Philippines has just launched a budget device — the Honor 8S with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage — in the country. It will be available July 19 for a price of P5,490 (around $107), putting it squarely in the category where phones like the Realme C1, Realme C2, and Xiaomi’s Redmi 7 are.
However, you can already preorder it starting tomorrow, July 12, from Shopee Philippines. The first 75 customers will get a free Honor Band 4 Running and a 32GB SD card. Not bad.

Announced first in Russia in April this year, the Honor 8S stands out in a sea of handsets, thanks to a dual-texture back cover that’s available in either blue or black. It seems that the company won’t be bringing the gold color variant here.
The display measures 5.71 inches diagonally and comes with a small, dewdrop notch; an 84.6 % screen-to-body ratio; and TÜV Rheinland eye-comfort certification. For photography, there’s a 13-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture on the back and a 5-megapixel one on the front.
The Honor 8S is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chip and features a 3,020mAh battery and Android 9.0-based EMUI 9.0.
