Or so it seems. As shared in one of the Samsung groups on Facebook — a post spotted by our friends from GizGuide — the first Galaxy phone with a pop-up rotating camera will finally be making its way to the Philippines.

Launched in April, the Samsung Galaxy A80 is seen as having a P34,990 (around $673) local price tag at Techbox, SM Center in Las Piñas City. This makes the device P12,990 ($250) more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy A70, which is selling for P22,990 ($442) in the country, and P5,000 ($96) cheaper than the P39,990 ($769) Samsung Galaxy S10e.

Some of you may find it surprisingly steep, but we expected this local pricing considering that in Europe, the Samsung Galaxy A80 costs €649 (P37,869 or $727) off contract and the A70 retails at £369 (P24,299 or $466).

The highlight of the smartphone is a motorized camera system that automatically pops up and flips over from the rear when you want to take a selfie. So no, there’s no separate front shooter. The setup on the back — consisting of a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 3D depth sensor — is the one used for selfies and video chat. Hopefully, the Korean manufacturer’s mechanism is sturdy enough that it can last for years with regular usage.

The camera design, which reminds us of the OPPO N3 (remember that? We wrote about it for Yahoo in 2014), allows the Samsung Galaxy A80 to sport a 6.7-inch full screen without a notch or punch-hole design.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 3,700mAh battery supports 25-watt fast charging. And it comes with Android 9.0 Pie with Samsung One UI layered on top.
