Redmi has been teasing what it calls its “super selfie phone,” the Redmi Y3, since April 10, but we have never seen what it looks like. Until earlier, that is.

1st teaser of the Y3, then known as ‘the upcoming Redmi phone,’ shared April 10th
Making its debut in India April 24, the Redmi Y3 was finally shown in an official video shared by Xiaomi’s sub-brand. And what a video it is. Not only did we see the smartphone dropped down a flight of stairs to highlight its durability, we also finally got a glimpse of its design.
The clip shows that the device features two rear cameras arranged vertically on the upper left side, with an LED flash underneath it. A fingerprint sensor sits in the middle, and a few inches away from it is the company logo.

The Redmi Y3 variant showcased is blue, but the color changes depending on where the light hits the textured back. Safe to say you’ll see the colors of the rainbow. Inside the unit is an earlier-confirmed 4,000mAh battery.
The biggest draw here is the 32-megapixel front-facing camera, of course. The video affirms that it’s housed in a waterdrop notch. Watch the clip below.

The Redmi Y3’s predecessor — introduced in May 2018 in the Philippines as the Xiaomi Redmi S2 (see Xiaomi Redmi S2 launched in PH after China; priced at P7,990 ($153) — was launched in India as the Y2. Could the upcoming phone be eventually released here as the Redmi S3?
