As we earlier reported, the Redmi Note 7 is finally launching in the Philippines on March 20. That said, we’re only a few days removed from seeing the heavily anticipated smartphone from the Xiaomi sub-brand officially hit local shelves, with only a few questions left to be answered.
(Update, March 20: It’s launched in the Philippines! Read Redmi Note 7 launched in PH with 18 months of warranty.)
One particular question has been asked a lot: Will the Redmi Note 7 sold here also come with an 18-month warranty from the date of purchase, which is longer than that of previous Xiaomi phones? The answer to that question may be more obvious than you think it is.

We found the Redmi Note 7’s official listing on Lazada Philippines, and it’s suggested multiple times on the website that the phone could indeed launch with 18 months of warranty, rather than the usual 12-month coverage.
Of course, nothing is set in stone at the moment, and this might be a case of miscommunication between the brand and its retail partner. If Xiaomi is as confident in its product as its promotional videos for the smartphone show, offering a longer warranty duration shouldn’t be a problem, regardless of where the handset is sold.
In case you need a refresher, the Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch notched display, 48- and 5-megapixel cameras at the back, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 under the hood. It also gets a 4,000mAh battery with support for fast charging via a USB-C port and runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
