Yesterday, we reported that the Samsung Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 will officially launch in the Philippines on March 13. Both phones have been announced in India, so we already have an idea of what to expect in terms of features and pricing.
Recently, however, local pricing for Samsung’s latest smartphones have been leaked online, and as expected, they’re pretty competitive. Based on the screenshot below, the Samsung Galaxy A30 will retail at P13,990 (roughly $267 converted) when it arrives in the Philippines, while the more specced-out Galaxy A50 is going to cost you P17,990 ($343).
It’s unclear how much memory each phone will carry, but we can assume that the prices shown here will be for the Galaxy A30 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and Galaxy A50 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. For comparison, the base Samsung Galaxy M20, which is similar to the Galaxy A30, both on the inside and outside, is P10,990 ($210) locally.
Visually, the new Galaxy A series handsets are more similar than different, although some differences are significant. Both tout a 6.4-inch OLED screen with a tiny, dewdrop-style notch above, but the Samsung Galaxy A50 incorporates a fingerprint scanner into the display assembly itself. The Galaxy A30 has a conventional fingerprint reader on the back.

The company also adds three cameras to the back of the A50, with the main sensor being a 25-megapixel unit, while the ultra-wide-angle and depth cameras are 8 and 5 megapixels, respectively. The A30’s dual array consists of a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel one for portrait shots.
Both smartphones offer a single solution for selfies, though the front-facing camera on the Galaxy A50 comes in at 25 megapixels, compared to the Samsung Galaxy A30’s 16 megapixels.
The latter uses the same Exynos 7904 processor found in the Galaxy M20 to power the assembly. Meanwhile, the A50 is backed by an Exynos 9610. Both sport a 4,000mAh battery with support for wired fast charging over a USB-C port.
