There is another smartphone announcement to look forward to on the same day the Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10e will go official. The Xiaomi Mi 9 will be launched on February 20 in Beijing, China.

And just like that, the rumor mill goes into overdrive, with pictures of live Xiaomi Mi 9 units making the rounds online. You can see some of them below.
Yes, it looks like Xiaomi has opted for the waterdrop notch at the top of what is believed to be a 6.4-inch screen for the Mi 9. Housed in the notch is a 24-megapixel selfie camera. On the back is a triple-rear-camera setup, reportedly composed of 48- and 12-megapixel and 3D ToF [time of flight] lenses. You can see a sample photo captured on the smartphone below. It was shared by a Xiaomi executive, who claimed that the shot was taken in a less-than-ideal lighting situation.

Unlike the 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 Ultra Clear sensor in the Redmi Note 7, the main sensor here could be Sony’s IMX600, which can also be found in the recent Huawei P and Mate series models.

Word has it that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor — not a surprise because that’s what we expect most upcoming flagship devices to use. The Geekbench single- and multi-core scores should be high, as the Mi 9 was earlier spotted on the benchmark site to have achieved 3,158 and 11,174 points, respectively.

It’s expected to support 27-watt fast charging because of what’s indicated from the certificate it got from the China Compulsory Certification. It should come with Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 and a 3,500mAh battery as well.
