Huawei has had its best performance yet last year, managing to ship more than 200 million units by end-2018. As it’s looking to unseat Samsung as the top smartphone vendor in the world, the company is expected to bring its A game now more than ever. What could its opening salvo — the Huawei P30 series — look like? What does the lineup bring to the table?

Today, we get a look at what could be Huawei’s next flagship device. Renders and a 360-degree video have been shared online, showing a handset with a back panel whose color shifts from green to blue — not surprising because last year’s Huawei P20 and P20 Pro popularized gradient. The finish is like that of the Emerald Green variant of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The boxy design is also reminiscent of the manufacturer’s Mate series style.

You can clearly see the vertically arranged triple-rear-camera module on the upper-left side with a dual-tone LED flash underneath it. Word has it that the setup includes Sony’s 5x-optical-zoom-capable 38-megapixel sensor.

There’s no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, so it’s most likely under the display. With a small, waterdrop-like notch that houses a 24-megapixel selfie camera and thin bezels on the side, the Huawei P30’s screen is said to measure a massive 6 inches.

On the right side of the smartphone is a volume rocker and a colored power key. At the bottom, you’ll find a speaker grille, a USB Type-C port, and lo and behold, a 3.5mm headphone jack — something that wasn’t included in the P20 line.

The Huawei P30 should come with a HiSilicon Kirin 980 chip and Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 layered on top. Rumors say there will be two memory configurations — one that pairs 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage and a model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet about its battery capacity.

If Huawei follows the 2018 timeline of the phone’s predecessor, then the P30 will be launched globally in March and will get released in the Philippines in April.
