When the Galaxy A8s was launched on December 10, Samsung didn’t announce the smartphone’s price yet. But now, as the device finally goes up for preorder, we finally know how much it is retailing for.
The Korean tech giant has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy A8s — the first in the world to feature an in-screen selfie camera — is up for grabs at ¥2,999 in China. That’s P23,034 when converted to Philippine pesos and $434 in U.S. dollars.
The price quoted is for the model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and is quite aggressive for a Samsung unit. There’s a variant with 8GB of RAM, but the company hasn’t listed that on its online shop just yet.

Besides being the first to get an Infinity-O display, the Samsung Galaxy A8s is also the first Galaxy A series phone with an LCD screen.
It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 chipset and boasts a 6.4-inch front panel with a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The triple-camera system on the back — which pairs a 24-megapixel primary sensor with a 10-megapixel wide sensor and a 5-megapixel one for depth sensing — is the same as the setup on the Galaxy A7 2018. Even the 24-megapixel selfie camera is the same as the one on the A7.

The battery is rated at 3,400mAh, and the Android OS version running is Samsung Experience based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
No word yet on whether Samsung will bring the A8s outside China. What we do know is that we should expect it to add more cutting-edge features to its midrange offerings, as promised by Samsung president for mobile business DJ Koh.
