Xiaomi is set to announce the Mi MIX 3 on October 25 at a press event in Beijing. More than a thousand miles away from the Chinese capital, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, the Mi MIX 3’s predecessor, has seen its first price drop in the Philippines since release.
The timing of the discount is particularly interesting; it suggests the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 will eventually make its way to the Philippines before the year ends. We sure hope so. The next MIX phone is touted to come with 10GB RAM — yes, 10GB! — and future-proof 5G wireless connectivity, in addition to a full-screen display with dual front cameras hidden in a slide mechanism.

The base Mi MIX 2S with 64GB internal storage now costs P26,490 (roughly $492) from P27,990 ($520). The 128GB version, on the other hand, has dropped to P28,990 ($539) from P29,990 ($558). Both come with 6GB of RAM to allow for better multitasking and gaming experiences.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S went on sale in the Philippines in June. At the time, it was the most affordable Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-based smartphone in the country, even cheaper than the ASUS ZenFone 5Z. It first launched in China in March, and then in other markets soon after.

The Mi MIX 2S is the third installment in the smartphone series that helped popularize devices with taller screens and smaller bezels.
