There’s a new top-ranked Android smartphone in terms of Antutu Benchmark performance for September 2018. And, no, we’re not referring to the Google Pixel 3 or Huawei Mate 20 Pro or Mate 20 X, at least not yet.
The newly crowned top-scoring, top-performing device is the ASUS ROG Phone with an average score of 299,706 points. ASUS’ new gaming phone unseats the Xiaomi Black Shark, curiously another gaming-centric handset, which registered a median of 290,602 points in the same test.

What’s also interesting is that all 10 phones in the rankings use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor. The different test results are indicative of the various memory configurations available for each device. Of course, more memory will almost always result in a higher score. The ASUS ROG Phone maxes out with 8GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
The OnePlus 6, Vivo NEX S, and Xiaomi Mi 8 round out the five highest-scoring models. If you’re curious as to how other flagship Android smartphones fared, check out the image below.

Antutu notes that all the scores have been averaged over the period September 1 through September 30. At least 1,000 units of each model have been used, and the Antutu version is version 7.
As for the ASUS ROG Phone, well, we’re not surprised it achieved such high benchmarks. It boasts a speed-binned 2.96GHz Snapdragon 845 with custom cooling to keep the processor running at peak speeds even during prolonged gaming. Most Snapdragon 845s are clocked at 2.8GHz.

ASUS will hold a keynote to launch the ROG Phone in the Philippines on October 28, when it’s expected to reveal the local price and availability of the company’s first gaming handset.
In China, the base model of the ROG Phone with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage runs you ¥5,999 (approximately P46,707 or $866), while bumping up the storage space to 512GB sets you back ¥7,999 (P62,262 or $1,155).
