But apparently, that isn’t the only thing keeping the company buzzing with excitement these days. OPPO will introduce its own hardware-acceleration feature at an event scheduled on October 11 in Shanghai, China. Yes, one day after the first K series phone is unveiled, which suggests the two events are actually related, and that the OPPO K1 might also be the company’s initial foray into gaming-focused devices.
OPPO’s proprietary feature will be called Hyper Boost Tech, one poster reveals. It also contains the phrase “towards an era of acceleration,” which further implies we should expect something pinned to CPU and GPU enhancement. Whether or not the feature will be rolled out to other OPPO phones in the future, similar to what Huawei did when it made GPU Turbo available to several current devices, we’ll find out this week.

As for the OPPO K1, the phone is rumored to be the middle ground between the OPPO F9 and the OPPO R17. It sports the company’s contemporary waterdrop-screen design, as well as gradient coloring on the back. And one poster says it will be the first smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor to be priced between ¥1,000 (around P7,835 or $145) and ¥1,999 (P15,663 or $289).
The OPPO K1’s TENAA listing also reveals a mid-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 inside, to go along with 4GB or 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of expandable storage. There’s a dual-lens camera around the back with 16- and 2-megapixel sensors. The battery capacity is 3,500mAh.
