The Starry Purple version of the OPPO F9 is now official in the Philippines, joining the Twilight Blue and Sunrise Red color options that were launched locally just last month.
For many (including us), the Starry Purple edition is perhaps the easiest to recommend to anyone looking for some flair and swagger on a midrange smartphone. In our review, we noted that the OPPO F9 improves on the already excellent OPPO F7 in ways one would find substantial.

Around the back is where it gets most interesting. The panel turns from light purple to dark purple as one approaches the base of the handset, while a glittery top coat and gold accents on the lens cover provides extra dazzle.
On the inside, the Starry Purple F9 gets the same specs as the two other variants. There’s a 6.3-inch screen with small bezels and a smaller notch at the top. A MediaTek Helio P60 still sits inside the assembly, paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The dual cameras on the rear also remain, as well as the 25-megapixel camera for selfies.

OPPO’s proprietary VOOC Flash Charge technology also stays. It provides enough power for two hours of talk time with a five-minute charge using the supplied fast charger.

In the Philippines, the OPPO F9 is priced at P17,990 (around $335) off contract. You can also get it through Smart Communications’ GigaX Plan 1299 data plan or Home Credit’s “0 percent interest for nine months” offer.
On its first week of availability this September, the F9 led the weekly chart of best-selling smartphones of MemoXpress, one of the biggest retailers in the Philippines. It outperformed other popular choices in the segment, such as the Samsung Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6, in terms of consumer sales.
