Huawei Philippines today announced that the much-anticipated GPU Turbo software update has started rolling out to Huawei Nova 3 units in the country. The update is supposed to add the gaming-focused feature, which will make select games run more smoothly while lowering power consumption.
It hasn’t rolled out to our Nova 3 unit as of this writing, so don’t be alarmed if your phone hasn’t received it yet either. Over-the-air upgrades tend to be released in batches, and this time is no exception. It might take a while for your device to get it — but it’s coming.

GPU Turbo on the Huawei Nova 3 is expected to make for a better gaming experience, and coming off our extended look at GPU Turbo on the Honor 10, there’s reason to be optimistic that it’ll do just that. On the Honor flagship, the update has resulted in more consistent frame rates, which is just as important as getting high frames. Why? Because it translates to smoother, lag-free gameplay.
GPU Turbo only supports PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, and Asphalt 9: Legends. However, the world’s second-biggest smartphone maker is expected to announce more compatible titles later. The software update will also be available on more devices, such as the Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Nova 3i, and Nova 2i, to name a few.
