Barely a week after revealing the R17 — which, by the way, is already up for registration at Chinese online-retail giant JD.com — OPPO drops a video teaser of a phone that will still be launched on August 23, the OPPO R17 Pro.
And if there’s anything we can glean from the 15-second clip, it’s that the handset has a triple-camera setup on the back and a gradient color, just like Huawei’s current flagship device. This makes the R17 Pro a combination of the Huawei P20 Pro, OPPO F9, and Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 models. Yep, all those rolled into one.

As you can see, the OPPO R17 Pro also features what the company calls a waterdrop screen, something that’s on the F9, too. The video likewise shows what OPPO revealed on Weibo days ago: that the R17 Pro boasts the same variable aperture lens on Samsung’s premium units. It should let the smartphone easily switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 to better adapt to every lighting condition.

We published pictures taken with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (and Apple iPhone X) here. Hopefully, the OPPO R17 Pro will fare better, what with the extra camera it packs. Thing, though, is that the third lens is supposedly neither a telephoto unit nor a black-and-white one. Word has it it’s a Time of Flight tri-dimensional camera, which will be used for augmented-reality purposes. Let’s see.
Other rumored specs include a 6.4-inch screen with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels; an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor; and up to 8GB of RAM.
