Pretty soon after the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite Android One smartphones were launched at a press event in Spain, the Chinese technology company announced the pricing of the two new devices in the Philippines.
As expected, the Mi A2 commands a higher price tag to reflect its faster internals and brighter, sharper cameras. The version with 4GB RAM/64GB native storage will cost P14,990 (around $281) here. The 6GB RAM/128GB memory model, on the other hand, will run you P17,490 ($328).

Both are impressive deals on what could end up on many people’s list of quality devices at accessible price points. The one with the higher memory configuration will likely be worth the extra cash if you can spring for it. Xiaomi has not detailed the exact date of availability, but expect the phone to end up on shelves soon, presumably sometime next month.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is essentially the Mi 6X for the international audience, and the inclusion of (mostly) pure and regularly updated Android is sure to draw customers in the door, even those who are not familiar with the brand or any of its products.

On the inside, the Mi A2 fits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 in its metal unibody, which is said to be only 7.3mm thick. The 6-inch LCD display features curved glass on top of it and has a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 and an aspect ratio of 18:9, suitable for gaming and watching content. The smartphone is also equipped with a 3,000mAh power cell that charges quickly via a Type-C connection.

At the back, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is equipped with 20- and 12-megapixel sensors that are designed for taking photos and video in low light. The front-facing camera is 20 megapixels and uses artificial intelligence or AI to snap selfies with beauty effects and a nice background blur. As expected, it runs Android 8.1 Oreo based on stock Android out of the box.
