OPPO F7 Youth launching in the Philippines May 23

Just a few days after OPPO Myanmar posted a TVC teaser for the OPPO F7 Youth on Facebook, we get an invite to the the smartphone’s launch in the Philippines.

The smartphone will be officially announced here on May 23, a day after Samsung unveils the Galaxy A6 and A6+ for the Philippine market.

If the case is anything like how 2017’s OPPO F5 Youth is to the F5, then specs-wise, the differences between the OPPO F7 Youth and the OPPO F7 lie in the memory configurations and the cameras. But the cheaper version will retain some of the best features of the other model, like the latter’s artificial intelligence or AI functions and capable MediaTek Helio P60 processor.

Because it doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor, the F7 Youth looks like the China-exclusive OPPO A3, which became official in April 2018. It also resembles the RealMe 1 from OPPO’s newly created sub-brand, RealMe. That one was launched in India just three days ago.

If we’re to guess, we’ll probably get something with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory instead of the 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB combos of the OPPO F7. The OPPO F7 Youth will probably also either retain the 16-megapixel rear camera and use an 8-megapixel front camera instead of the F7’s 25-megapixel selfie shooter. Or the cam at the back will be 13 megapixels.

Recall that the OPPO F5 and F5 Youth were priced at P17,990 (around $344) and P13,990 ($267) at launch. The base model of the F7 costs P17,990, so are we looking at a P15,990 ($306) price tag for the Youth variant here? We’ll know in a few days.
