Lenovo is getting ready to create a buzz in the mobile industry with the launch of what is now known as the Lenovo Z5, which could be the first truly bezel-less smartphone to be released to the public.

Recently, company vice-president Chang Cheng teased a sketch of the device on China’s Weibo micro-blogging service. But unlike the first time he posted about it, where only one-fourth of the handset is shown, you can already see the Lenovo Z5 in its entirety.

If you hate the notch, then you’ll be pleased with this one. You’ll see no cutout on the screen, unlike many smartphones these days that embrace the design popularized by the Apple iPhone X. Plus, the Lenovo Z5 does not have a fingerprint reader on the front. This could mean that it will have either an under-display fingerprint sensor or a rear-mounted one.

Considering that the Lenovo Z5 has a screen-to-bezel ratio of at least 95 percent, as Cheng revealed last week, we wonder where they have placed the selfie camera and the sensors. The Vivo APEX, which has a crazy 98 percent screen-to-bezel ratio, uses a pop-up camera and a bottom bezel. That’s besides an in-display fingerprint reader, of course. Cheng did hint that they have relied on four tech breakthroughs and 18 patents.
Scheduled for an official announcement in June 2018, the Lenovo Z5 has a screen-to-bezel ratio of at least 95 percent. That’s way higher than those of any of the smartphones that have been released thus far.
The Vivo APEX was introduced as a concept phone at the Mobile World Congress three months ago, but is now scheduled for a limited release end of this year or early 2019. But because the Z5 will be unveiled in June, Lenovo could beat Vivo to the market.
