Nokia X design, specs confirmed on certification site

Finally. The next Nokia smartphone — apparently called Nokia X, not Nokia X6 — has shown up on the site of China’s certification body, TENAA. And it confirms most of what has been leaked thus far.

The Nokia X will indeed have one feature that was popularized by the iPhone X. Yup, there’s no escaping the notch if you are set on getting this smartphone. But the cutout, which houses stuff like the front camera, is smaller than the one on Apple’s 10th-anniversary iPhone.

In the Philippines, devices with notched-screen design that are already available are the OPPO F7, the Vivo V9, the ASUS ZenFone 5 and 5Z, and the Huawei P20, P20 Pro, and P20 Lite.

The Nokia X on TENAA

According to the listing on TENAA’s site, the Nokia X midrange handset measures 147.2 x 70.98 x 7.99 millimeters and weighs 151 grams. It boasts a 5.8-inch screen with 2,280 x 1,080 resolution. A 1.8GHz octa-core processor, likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, can be found underneath the hood. That chip is mated to 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB of RAM and 32GB and 64GB of memory, which is expandable using a microSD card up to 128GB.

The phone comes with a 3,000mAh battery, runs Android 8.1 Oreo, and will be available in blue, black, and silver white color variants.

The Nokia X features a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. At the back, though, is an interesting bit: We can see two cameras, but TENAA only mentions a 16-megapixel sensor. It’s either both sensors have 16 megapixels, or the secondary one is really not mentioned at all. We’ll know for sure once the smartphone is launched on May 16 in China. Till then.
