Vivo V9 Youth released. See how it compares with the Vivo V9

The Vivo V9 is getting a younger sibling in the Vivo V9 Youth, and it has already been released in India with no fanfare.

An Indian retailer just posted details of the smartphone. Apparently, the V9 Youth is priced at ₹18,990 (roughly P14,979 or $288), ₹4,000 (P3,159 or $61) less than the V9. In the Philippines, the latter costs P17,990 ($345). If the Youth model will be made available here, its suggested retail price will probably be between P14,000 ($268) and P15,000 ($288).

Anyhow, for its Indian SRP, you get the same design and build as its more expensive sibling. You get the same on-trend 6.3-inch screen with a tall aspect ratio of 19:9; the same amount of RAM; the same Android OS version; and the same battery capacity.

Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor, though, the chip inside the Vivo V9 Youth is a Snapdragon 450, which the company also uses for the P12,990 ($249) Vivo V7 and the P17,990 ($345) Vivo V7+. The 450 is matched with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable memory.

On the front is a selfie camera with less megapixel count of 16 instead of the 24-megapixel one on the V9. And the dual-rear-camera system pairs 16- and 2-megapixel sensors instead of the V9’s 16- and 5-megapixel units.
