The Xiaomi-backed gaming phone you may have been waiting for is coming sooner than you think it is.
A copy of an invite to the Blackshark device’s unveiling has just been posted on Weibo. It reveals that the launch of the smartphone is slated for April 13 in Beijing, China. That’s just a little over a week from now.
In case you missed it, Xiaomi is said to have invested in the company that’s behind the smartphone. The manufacturer known as Nanchang Black Shark Technology Co., Ltd. — or simply Black Shark — was established in August 2017 to focus on gaming devices. Xiaomi partner investor Sun Changxu is reportedly on its board.
The Blackshark handset was first spotted in February 2018 on Antutu with a whopping 270,680 benchmark score, which is higher than the average rating of the Samsung Galaxy S9+.
It’s confirmed to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The chip is believed to have three memory configurations: 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory; 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage; and 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable space.

The Blackshark’s display is rumored to have a tall 18:9 aspect ratio and a high 2,160 x 1,080 resolution. More importantly, the refresh rate is supposedly 120GHz, which should put the gaming handset in the same league as the Razer Phone. Take note that the higher the refresh rate, the more valuable it is for gaming and reducing lag.

Previous reports also mentioned that the smartphone will support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast-charging technology; come with Shark Space, which is similar to Apple’s Game Center, and ship with Android 8.0 Oreo. Excited?
