The Mi A1, or the Mi 5X in some markets, is one of Xiaomi’s more interesting phones from last year.
It’s affordable; it’s sufficiently fast; it has a dual-camera setup for portrait shooting; and, as part of Google’s Android One program (to be clear, only the Mi A1 is), it comes with the latest and purest form of Android, with guaranteed updates for the next two years. It does lack a taller screen, but that’s really the only criticism we could make of the phone.

The good news is that the sequel to the Mi A1 might already be in the final stages of development. The Xiaomi Mi 6X, which is likely the device the Xiaomi Mi A2 will be based on, has been spotted on China’s TENAA certification website.
The phone posted on the site has the model number M1804D2SC, suggesting it could be announced real soon. In fact, some argue it might launch alongside the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, which is slated for a global reveal on March 27. That’s tomorrow, in case you need to be reminded.

The extra-tall display is believed to be 6 inches across, with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels and an 18:9 screen ratio. It’s virtually identical to the panel found in the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The Xiaomi Mi A2’s rear stacks two cameras vertically, similar to the system on the back of the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

On the inside, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor will likely be paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Allegedly, a 2,910mAh battery, which is slightly less than what the Xiaomi Mi A1 offers, will power the assembly.
Again, Xiaomi’s big day is tomorrow, so do check back with us then for the latest updates.
