Pink — or should we say Rose Gold? — smartphones were the craze a few years ago. We’re seeing fewer companies opting to make their devices look pretty in pink now. But perhaps that’s no longer the case.
We previously reported that Huawei will make available the Pink Gold (think rose) variant of the Mate 10 Pro. On the midrange side, Samsung Philippines has released pink-colored versions of two of their phones, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Samsung Galaxy J7+ and Galaxy J7 Pro in that shade are already in stores, retailing for P19,990 (around $387) and P15,990 ($309), respectively. Same prices at launch, same hardware. But when you buy any of the two on or before March 5, 2018, you get a free cover — a clear cover for the J7+ and a pink wallet cover for the J7 Pro.

Launched in the Philippines last October, the Samsung Galaxy J7+ was originally only available in black and gold editions. It arrived with dual cameras at the back and a MediaTek Helio P20 processor, which was quite a surprise given Samsung’s history with Exynos and Qualcomm chipsets. The secondary rear camera provides depth information and allows the camera system to create an in-focus image in the foreground with a blurred background.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro came earlier, launched in July the previous year — also in black and gold. Its major selling points include a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with always-on function, an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, and a sizable 3,600mAh battery. The front-facing 13-megapixel camera with an f/1.9 aperture lens also impresses.

Again, don’t expect any changes to the hardware, apart from the new paint jobs. It would be interesting to see, though, whether offering additional color options post-launch could drive sales for Samsung’s older models.
