Or so a Korean publication claims.
But if the latest report turns out to be true, then we’ve got good news for you: The respective prices of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ won’t be that much different from those of their predecessors.
If the latest report turns out to be true, then the respective prices of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ won’t be that much different from those of their predecessors.
The regular S9 will go for ₩950,000 (about P45,465 or $885), while the Plus variant will retail at ₩990,000 (P47,379 or $923). Take note that the Samsung Galaxy S8 was priced at ₩935,000 (P44,747 or $871) at launch, and the S8+ was similarly valued as the S9+.
Don’t get confused now. Samsung smartphones are really more expensive in their home country. So if that’s the case, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ may sell for around P39,990 ($777) and P45,990 ($894), respectively. Or how the tech giant priced the Galaxy S8 and S8+ when they debuted in the Philippines.

According to the report, Samsung will start taking preorders for the devices on March 2, merely five days after their international launch at MWC 2018. The phones will then be shipped to early adopters on March 8. So expect market availability — at least in South Korea — to be right after that.
Notice that this year’s official global unveiling is earlier than in 2017. Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were introduced on March 29, with the Philippine launch held on April 18.

Word has it that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ may not look that much different from their 2017 counterparts. However, the real change will be found underneath the hood, such as in the camera department, where they will have a variable aperture from f/2.4 to f/1.5 — the lowest ever in a phone. The lower the aperture value, the better or shallower the depth of field.

Expect both smartphones to be powered by either Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, depending on the market. The regular S9 is said to have a 5.8-inch screen with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory, while the Plus model is rumored to sport a larger, 6.2-inch display and 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
