The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are the first devices to use Sammy’s all-new — and as we found out recently, all-impressive — Exynos 7885 chipset.

Obviously, they won’t be the last, but a new leak may have just revealed the next Samsung handset to put the processor through its paces. Possible details and benchmark scores of a device code-named SM-J720F have been uploaded to the Geekbench and GFXBench databases. And although the GFXBench listing reports the model name Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017), the source of the rumor claims it is not fake.
The device in question is said to carry the name Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) when it launches later this year. Besides having a fast and efficient chipset with eight CPU cores — two of them are high-performance Cortex-A73 cores that could be clocked up to 2.1GHz (the rest of the cores run at 1.6GHz) — the J8 (2018) might include 4GB of RAM and 32GB of base storage, on a par with the Galaxy A8 (2018).
Which is to say the Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018), or whatever it will be called, is probably going to be fun to use, especially for gaming. In our review, we mentioned that the Galaxy A8 with 4GB RAM can run demanding games like NBA 2K18 at the highest settings. It’s also worth mentioning that the Geekbench scores of our A8 unit are somewhat close to the numbers for the alleged J8.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) can play NBA 2K18 for Android at the highest settings even with ‘Cloth Simulation’ turned on. Which gives you an idea of how the game will be on the Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018). Related article: NBA 2K18 for Android and iOS: Can your phone run it?
Other rumored specs include a 5.5-inch display running at a standard resolution of 1,280 x 720; 12- and 8-megapixel rear and front cameras; and Android 8.0 Oreo, which will make it the first Samsung device to come with the latest Android version if it gets announced before the Galaxy S9 handsets.
Word is the Korean company will debut the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on February 26, with shipping beginning March 16th.
