OPPO F5 Youth gets price cut; now P3,000 or $60 less than the F5

To kick off 2018, OPPO Philippines has slashed the price of the most affordable “selfie expert” in the F5 series.

Originally retailing at P13,990 (roughly $278), the OPPO F5 Youth is now more budget-friendly at P12,990 ($258). But while P3,000 ($60) less than the F5, it retains some of the best features of its higher-priced sibling.

Consider: The F5 Youth also boasts OPPO’s A.I. Beauty Technology. The artificial-intelligence-backed tech promises to deliver “customized selfies” as it analyzes your face by scanning 200 facial-recognition spots and determining your age, gender, skin type, and skin tone.

It likewise features a 6-inch screen with 1080 x 2160 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio; a capable Helio P23 chipset; 32GB of internal storage; a 3,200mAh battery; and Android Nougat.

The two selfie phones’ major differences lie in the camera and RAM departments. The OPPO F5 Youth carries with it a 16-megapixel selfie cam, a 13-megapixel main shooter, and 3GB of RAM. The OPPO F5, on the other hand, has 20- and 16-megapixel front and rear cameras and an understandably higher RAM at 4GB.

The latter has a red variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in memory, but you’ll have to shell out more for that version, as it costs P21,990 ($437).

The recent price adjustment puts the OPPO F5 Youth in the same range as the Vivo V7 (check our review by clicking on this), whose price coincidentally got slashed by P2,000 ($40) a week earlier.
