Love the Apple iPhone SE because of that tiny form factor, and the fact that it’s the most affordable iPhone around? Good news: Apple is rumored to release a refresh early next year, as reported by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News.

The report claims the tentatively named iPhone SE 2 is slated to arrive in the first half of 2018 and will be aimed at emerging markets that Apple has not paid much attention to. It also says the new iPhone will be made by a Taiwanese manufacturer in Bangalore, India, where some units of the current iPhone SE are assembled.

The tentatively named Apple iPhone SE 2 is said to arrive in the first half of 2018 and will be aimed at emerging markets that the company has not paid much attention to.

The first iPhone SE was launched on March 21, 2016, and became available on the market on March 31.

But don’t hold your breath for a dramatic makeover, as the Apple iPhone SE 2 is tipped to keep the original’s 4-inch display, though it might be powered by the same A10 chip inside the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, replete with 2GB of RAM and 32GB and 128GB storage options.

The back-facing camera is rumored to be 12 megapixels, while the forward-facing one might settle with just 5 megapixels. Fingerprint recognition or Touch ID (for you, Apple fans) could be included in the specifications as well.

As for the price, the base iPhone SE 2 is said to start at $349 (about P17,669), which makes sense considering the model it will replace carries an identical price tag.
