(Update, October 16: The Nokia 3310 3G is now available in the Philippines for P2,790 or around $54.)
That changes today: HMD Global has made the Nokia 3310 3G official Thursday, with new color options, a redesigned user interface, and superior 3G radio in tow.
We kind of feel sorry for those who bought into the hype early, but then again, the device isn’t exactly cheap for what it does. We don’t see ourselves ponying up 69 euros, the equivalent of P4,142 or $82, for a glorified dumb phone. The reintroduced Nokia 3310 was offered at P2,490 ($49) at launch.
However, we do admit that this nostalgia-fueled item will be appealing to some, if only because of its long battery life. Adding 3G connectivity makes it even more appealing. Moreover, HMD Global claims the Nokia 3310 3G will offer 6.5 hours of talk time or 27 days of standby time.

Meanwhile, the improved interface will introduce six color themes to choose from, plus the option to rearrange icons within a fixed grid. There will be four color options when the phone hits the streets from mid-October: azure, yellow, red, and charcoal.
In related news, HMD Global will announce the Nokia 8 for the Philippine market tomorrow. Pricing and availability of the said flagship are expected to be revealed. Details about the local release of the 3310 3G might also surface, so stay tuned for our upcoming coverage.
