Infinix dropped the Infinix NOTE 50, Infinix NOTE 50 Pro, and Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ in the Philippines, and the headline act isn’t just faster charging or a slightly better screen — it’s metal.

Specifically, the Pro model rocks an actual aluminum alloy frame, a feature usually reserved for phones costing significantly more. This, combined with a heavy dose of AI features and aggressive pricing starting under P9,000 (under $160), signals Infinix is making a serious power play in the local market.

Now, about that frame. As we indicated in our review of the Infinix NOTE 50 Pro, seeing metal on a handset aiming for the sub-P12,000 (sub-$212) segment is genuinely surprising. The company isn’t being shy about it, branding the material ArmorAlloy — a mix of Damascus steel and aerospace-grade aluminum, apparently — and talking up its HyperCasting one-piece die-casting process for lightweight strength. Infinix is even throwing in TÜV SÜD drop-resistance certification via a ShockAbsorb buffer system. The takeaway? It wants you to know this isn’t just another plastic fantastic budget phone; it’s aiming for a more premium feel and durability without obliterating your wallet.

Beyond the hardware flex, Infinix is going hard on the AI front, centering it around its One-Tap Infinix AI∞ system, accessible via a long press of the power button. This summons its Folax AI assistant, which promises on-screen content recognition (think Google Lens but integrated), instant translation, text or image generation, and even privacy masking for sensitive info. It sounds ambitious, aiming to weave AI assistance throughout the user experience, from productivity tasks like call summaries to creative pursuits. The NOTE 50 Pro even gets funky Bio-Active Halo multi-color LED lighting effects for notifications and calls. Think of it as a notification light that’s seemingly on steroids.

And the surprises don’t stop there. Borrowing a page from wearables, the Infinix NOTE 50 Pro integrates SpO2 and heart-rate monitoring directly into the smartphone via a rear sensor and a dedicated My Health app. It’s an unexpected wellness feature popping up in this price bracket.

Of course, Infinix hasn’t forgotten its roots. Charging gets an upgrade with All-Round FastCharging 3.0. The NOTE 50 Pro boasts 90-watt wired charging — claiming a full 5,200mAh battery charge in 38 minutes — with different modes, plus promises of battery longevity thanks to its Cheetah X2 chip, claiming over 80% capacity after 2,300 cycles. There’s even 10-watt wired and 7.5-watt wireless reverse charging for topping up your earbuds in a pinch. Performance-wise, the NOTE 50 Pro runs on the familiar 6nm MediaTek Helio G100 processor, paired with gaming assists like XBOOST mode and a VC cooling system. Infinix also touts a 4.5G Open-Air Network Structure on the Pro for faster downloads and better signal reception.

So, what’s the full lineup and damage? Three models are hitting the Philippines:

  • Infinix NOTE 50 (8GB/256GB): P8,999 ($159)
  • Infinix NOTE 50 Pro (12GB/256GB): P11,999 ($212)
  • Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G (12GB/256GB): P17,999 ($318)

These prices are aggressive, especially considering the feature list. If you want to grab one, Shopee is the place to be starting tomorrow, April 24, for an exclusive launch window. Infinix is sweetening the deal with hefty early-bird discounts: the NOTE 50 drops to P7,699 ($136), the NOTE 50 Pro to P9,999 ($177), and the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G to P15,999 ($283). Availability on Lazada and TikTok Shop will follow. Buyers also get a free year of Viu Premium thrown in.

Infinix is clearly swinging for the fences with the Infinix NOTE 50 Series, attempting to inject premium materials and a wide array of AI and health features into price points where they’re rarely seen. It’s a bold strategy designed to shake up the status quo in the fiercely competitive Philippine smartphone market.

“By prioritizing real user needs, we have transformed an everyday smartphone into a ‘true flagship’ that seamlessly addresses various life applications with a lighter metal design, an all-encompassing AI assistant, and intelligent charging technology,” said Infinix Philippines marketing manager Jelly Buan.
