Shoot digital, print wide: Fujifilm Instax WIDE Evo lands in PH

Fujifilm Philippines has officially announced a new hybrid instant camera in the Philippines, and this time, it’s going wide. Say hello — or cheese? — to the Fujifilm Instax WIDE Evo, the bigger sibling to the popular Instax mini Evo, now officially available in the country.

If you loved the concept of the mini Evo — shooting digital, then choosing what to print — but wished for that larger wide format, this might be the camera you’ve been waiting for. And yes, we’ve got the local price right here: The new Instax WIDE Evo is priced at P22,599 (around $400) at Fujifilm authorized dealers nationwide.

To celebrate the Philippine launch, Fujifilm hosted a special 10:10 – Wider Stories to Tell exhibit just this past weekend, April 26 to April 27, at the Glorietta Activity Centre in Makati City. Visitors got the chance to touch and try the new camera, alongside workshops, installations, and other activities. The event also featured works from acclaimed Filipino photographers like Jilson Tiu, Geloy Concepcion, Aya Cabauatan, and Issa Barte, showcasing the creative potential of the WIDE Evo.

Speaking of which, what makes this new Instax special? It’s a hybrid camera, giving you the best of both worlds. You can take photos using the handy LCD screen on the back of the camera, preview them, and only print the shots you really love, saving precious film. Plus, it easily turns into a smartphone printer; just send a great shot (any image in your gallery, actually) from your phone to the WIDE Evo via Bluetooth using the dedicated app and print it directly onto wide-format Instax film.

Fujifilm is really leaning into creative expression with this model. The WIDE Evo packs 10 lens effects like Magenta and Monochrome, alongside 10 film styles such as Light Leak and Color Gradient, giving you 100 basic combinations right off the bat.

Taking it further, and for the first time in an Instax camera, there’s a Degree Control function. This lets you finely adjust effects like light intensity and color gradation in 100 levels for super-precise results. Combined with the Film Style framing feature and the Wide Angle mode for those dynamic shots, Fujifilm says you have over 100,000 possible creative expressions to play with.

The camera itself sports a rather classy, luxurious design featuring a black base combined with metallic materials. It even keeps some satisfying analog vibes through physical dials for selecting effects and a manual Print crank you rotate to physically eject your chosen shots.

Of course, there’s an app for that. The Fujifilm Instax WIDE Evo app connects via Bluetooth and offers more than just printing from your smartphone. It includes a Discover Feed where users worldwide can share their WIDE Evo prints and the specific effects they used. If you see a look you like, you can favorite the effect combination and easily replicate it on your own camera via the app. Additionally, you can save your printed images, complete with the Instax frame, back to your handset for easy sharing on social media.
