Forget those skinny folding handsets you’ve seen before — the newly announced Huawei Pura X introduces a refreshing take on foldable smartphones. This one’s wider than most of them, which makes it easier to use.
The outer display is like a 3.5-inch square OLED mini-screen, handy for quick glances. Open it up, and you get a bigger, wider OLED display measuring 6.3 inches that offers a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 2,120 × 1,320 resolution. Because it’s so wide, you can actually do two things at once, like having two apps side by side without them feeling cramped.
Huawei remains tight-lipped about the Pura X’s chipset, but there are reports claiming it’s a Kirin 9020. It’s paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. And the battery? It’s a 4,720mAh silicon-carbon cell, complemented by fast 66-watt wired charging and 40-watt wireless charging.
On the back of the Huawei Pura X, you’ve got a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization. Plus, there’s a 40-megapixel ultrawide lens for those landscape shots and an 8-megapixel zoom lens that gets you 3.5x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom.
For selfies and video calls, there’s a 10.7-megapixel front camera, although the primary camera can double as a selfie shooter when the device is folded — a signature feature of foldable phones.

Huawei Pura X official product video. Too bad the device is only available in China. And too bad we at Revü Philippines left Beijing the night before the day of its release there
The Huawei Pura X is running the company’s own Hongmeng OS 5, which is tailored to take full advantage of the foldable design, enabling smooth transitions between the cover and main displays. You get all the usual connectivity options, as well as some extras like satellite communication, and it’s even IPX8 water-resistant, so you don’t have to freak out if you spill something on it.
And if you want to go all out, they’ve got a special Huawei Pura X Collector’s Edition with a fancy tri-color leather back; even more RAM and storage, offering up to 16GB of RAM and storage options of 512GB or an impressive 1TB; and some extra features, such as enhanced satellite communication. Of course, it’s more expensive, but hey, it’s the top-of-the-line version.
Speaking of price, the Huawei Pura X retails starting at ¥7,499 (roughly P59,316 or $1,034), while the Collector’s Edition costs from ¥8,999 (P71,181 or $1,241). These prices place the Pura X firmly in the premium segment, but its innovative design and exceptional features will likely justify its positioning as a flagship foldable, no?
