Following the successful release of the HONOR X9c 5G in the Philippines, HONOR‘s local arm is set to launch a more affordable variant of its popular midrange line.

(Update, February 21: Here’s how much the HONOR X9c Smart 5G is!)

Barely missing a beat, HONOR Philippines is prepping a follow-up: the HONOR X9c Smart 5G, launching locally tomorrow, February 20. Of course, pricing is still under wraps, but the “Smart” moniker heavily implies a price cut below the HONOR X9c 5G’s P16,990 (around $292) price tag in the country.

Don’t expect a lot of compromises for that lower price, though. The company says the HONOR X9c Smart 5G retains many of the regular model’s key selling points, including its “all-angle” durability and long battery life courtesy of a beefy 5,800mAh battery. The standard version’s 108-megapixel main camera also makes the cut, alongside HONOR’s MagicOS software tricks like the Dynamic Island-esque Magic Capsule and the Magic Portal shortcuts.

The LCD display is also pretty sizable at 6.8 inches and pushes an FHD+ resolution, to go along with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, a MediaTek Dimensity 7025-Ultra chip, built on a 6nm process, should handle daily tasks efficiently. Meanwhile, the smartphone’s generous 5,800mAh cell gets a respectable 35-watt wired charging speed.

The question, as always with these “value” variants, is where exactly corners were cut to hit that lower price. We’ll know more when the official pricing drops tomorrow. We’ll also have a full review hitting the site soon, so stay tuned.
