Solo Leveling stans, rejoice! Crunchyroll and Aniplex recently confirmed what we’ve all been hoping for: Solo Leveling Season 2 – Arise from the Shadow is coming. And soon.
The date to circle is January 4, 2025 — just four days into the new year. The anime adaptation of the beloved South Korean web novel and webtoon is back, and you can stream it exclusively on the Crunchyroll website and app outside Japan.
Accompanying the announcement was the release of a new trailer, providing fans with a preview of upcoming scenes and battles. Notably, the trailer also introduces the opening theme song ReawakeR by LISA featuring Felix of Stray Kids. A-1 Pictures, renowned for its work on Fairy Tail and Sword Art Online, will return as the animation studio.
Solo Leveling Season 2 – Arise from the Shadow will adapt the Red Gate and Demon Castle arcs, based on chapters 46 to 75 of the webtoon. Viewers can anticipate intense action sequences as Jin-woo confronts formidable S-rank monsters and navigates increasingly challenging dungeons. This season will chronicle his definitive transformation into the Shadow Monarch.

If you’re not familiar, the anime faithfully adapts the novel originally written by Chugong and later illustrated as a webtoon by Jang Sung-rak (also known as Dubu) of Redice Studio. It’s a fantasy action story set in a world where portals to dungeons filled with monsters have opened up. To combat this threat, some humans have awakened as Hunters, or individuals with special abilities to raid these dungeons.
The story follows Sung Jinwoo, initially the weakest Hunter in the world, who is almost killed in a double dungeon. However, he is granted a unique ability to level up his powers by completing quests and defeating monsters, similar to a video-game character. The series chronicles his journey from a weakling to the savior of humankind.
