Circle your calendars: HONOR‘s gearing up to unleash its next-gen smartphone in the Philippines sometime in January 2025. The company says it will be its “toughest phone to date.”
And if the teasers are anything to go by, this thing is built like a freaking tank, even tougher than the previous-gen model, which is certainly saying something. We’re likely looking at the successor to the critically acclaimed X series, and based on the absolute torture tests HONOR’s been putting it through, it’s clear that durability is once again the main selling point for the upcoming device.
We’re talking drops onto jagged rocks, air-rifle assaults, getting crushed by actual construction equipment, water-jet blasts, and being subjected to the weight of bowling balls and dumbbells. HONOR Philippines’ teaser even hints at the phone shrugging off boiling temperatures that would certainly melt most other units.

This isn’t exactly new territory for the brand. Recall that HONOR Philippines kicked off 2024 by dropping the HONOR X9b 5G on us. It came in at P16,999 (roughly $293 converted), same as its predecessor, and offered 12GB of physical RAM, to go along with 256GB of storage. The X9b 5G also sported a 6.78-inch curved 120Hz AMOLED screen with the SGS Five-star Overall Drop Resistance Certification. In other words, it arrived with a display that could take a beating from any angle.
Other notable specs of the smartphone included an efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, a 108-megapixel main camera, and a 16-megapixel punch-hole shooter for selfies and video calls, a 5,800mAh battery that supported 35-watt fast wired charging, and the company’s own MagicOS interface based on Android.
The X9b 5G proved that HONOR could deliver a durable phone without sacrificing performance or style. Now, it looks like they’re about to crank that formula up to eleven. Could the device be the HONOR X9c 5G that debuted in Malaysia? Consider us officially intrigued — and perhaps a little bit scared for whatever the brand is going to put the upcoming model through next. January 2025 can’t come soon enough.
