Yesterday, we wrote that Chinese smartphone brand vivo officially confirmed the global release of its flagship X200 series, which is scheduled to make its debut outside of China on November 19.

Now, we can confirm that vivo’s latest top-end model will indeed launch in the Philippines, with a local launch set for December 15. It will be the first X series phone in the country in a long time, following the release of the X80 and X80 Pro two years ago. Back then, the standard vivo X80 was priced at P45,999 (around $783 converted), while the vivo X80 Pro set you back P59,999 ($1,021). Both devices arrived with 12GB of physical RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.

Based on what we’ve been told, it seems the company is streamlining its flagship strategy this year, focusing all its energy on the vivo X200 Pro as its sole contender in the luxury-smartphone arena. This makes sense from a business perspective, especially if the vanilla X200 would be priced too close to the Pro model, potentially cannibalizing sales. After all, why offer two similar phones when you can concentrate all your marketing and sales efforts on one device?

In its native China, the base vivo X200 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at ¥5,299, which translates to roughly $733 or P43,055. Hopefully, vivo’s local arm can keep the pricing competitive to give the handset a fighting chance in the cutthroat high-end segment.

Arriving in the Philippines December 15

We’ve haven’t heard anything about the vivo X200 Pro mini, so it’s probably safe to assume that it won’t make its way to global markets anytime soon. A pity, considering the growing appreciation for smaller phones like the Xiaomi 14, which prove that you don’t need a giant screen to deliver a premium experience. Perhaps vivo is hesitant to fragment its global lineup with too many variants, or maybe the demand for smaller flagships isn’t strong enough to justify a worldwide release. Whatever the reason, the absence of the vivo X200 Pro mini leaves a void for those who prefer a phone that fits comfortably in hand and doesn’t require huge pockets to carry around.

Under the hood, the vivo X200 Pro is a beast. Just like its regular sibling, it’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 5G chipset. This silicon powerhouse ensures buttery-smooth performance, whether you’re juggling demanding apps, immersing yourself in graphically intensive games, or pushing the boundaries of mobile photography.

Speaking of photography, the X200 series model likely inherits the impressive triple-camera setup from its Chinese counterpart. This means you get that incredible 135mm focal length for capturing distant subjects with clarity and precision, alongside 4K slow-motion video recording at 120 FPS and 10-bit LOG video capture that provides the flexibility for professional-grade color grading in post-production.

And to keep this powerhouse potentially running all day long, vivo has equipped the X200 Pro with a massive 6,000mAh battery. When it’s time to recharge, you can juice up in a flash with 90-watt fast wired charging. For those who prefer a cable-free experience, the unit also supports 30-watt fast wireless charging.
