ASUS has just debuted the ASUS ROG Phone 9, ROG Phone 9 Pro, and ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition, calling the Android 15-based lineup “a stunning and versatile gaming powerhouse.”

The Taiwanese manufacturer has crammed Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chipset to date, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, into the devices. Combined with up to a staggering 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage on the Pro Edition, it looks like the ROG Phone 9 series is a beast. We’re talking a 45% leap in CPU performance and a 40% surge in GPU and NPU speeds compared to the last generation.

There’s a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that supports a 185Hz refresh rate when playing compatible apps in ASUS’ own Game Genie software. To keep those thermals in check during marathon gaming sessions, the company has implemented a revamped cooling system with a 57% larger graphite sheet and a redesigned active cooler.

Arcade games, anyone?

The eye-catching AniMe Vision screen on the rear is back. The ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro, in particular, features a whopping 648 programmable mini-LEDs, more than double its predecessor, enabling a mesmerizing array of animations and customizations. You can even play retro-style games on the mini-LED matrix.

ASUS didn’t stop there. It has infused the ROG Phone 9 series with AI features. Think AI-powered image recognition that can analyze in-game situations and provide real-time notifications or even automatically upgrade your skills in supported titles like Genshin Impact and League of Legends: Wild Rift. There’s also an AI Grabber function that recognizes in-game text, allowing you to copy and paste it for walkthroughs or translations. And for crystal-clear communications during multiplayer battles, the brand has included AI-enhanced noise cancellation.

AI on, game on: Gaming anywhere with AI

Beyond gaming, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 series seems it could excel in everyday use, too. The 5,800mAh battery with 65-watt fast charging keeps you powered up, and the 50-megapixel camera system with Sony’s Lytia 700 sensor and 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilization helps you take the shots you want. It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack tuned by Dirac, supporting Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless. Plus, the AeroActive Cooler X Pro adds a subwoofer for a truly immersive 2.1 sound experience.

Excited to get your hands on the ASUS ROG Phone 9, ROG Phone 9 Pro, or ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition? Preorders are already open. Those who are based in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China will be the first to experience these gaming beasts, with shipping starting tomorrow, November 20. Gamers in Europe can expect their devices to arrive in December. Meanwhile, U.S. gamers will have to wait a bit longer, with the U.S. launch scheduled for January 2025 (probably at CES 2025?). Other regions, including the Philippines perhaps, will get the gaming phones afterwards, so keep an eye out for updates.
