Xiaomi has finally spilled the beans on the launch date for its highly anticipated flagship smartphone series.

Mark your calendars for October 29, when the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will make their grand debut alongside a slew of other exciting products, including the HyperOS 2 Android 15-based custom overlay, Pad 7 series, Watch S4, Band 9 Pro, and SU7 Ultra EV.

Philippine launch on the horizon?

While the tech giant hasn’t officially confirmed it, we’re hoping the Xiaomi 15 will make its way to the Philippines, following in the footsteps of the Xiaomi 14 earlier this year.

Recall that the base model of the latter arrived on the local market with a P45,999 (around $787) price tag, while the configuration with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage we reviewed was priced at P47,999 ($821). Neither variant offered expandable storage.

Xiaomi 15 series: What to expect

The rumor mill has been churning for months about these top-end phones, and now we have official confirmation. Interestingly, the launch is happening sooner than many expected. Sadly, it seems the Xiaomi 15 Ultra won’t be joining the party this time around. If history is any indication, we’ll likely have to wait until next year for that camera-focused flagship.

Qualcomm recently revealed that the Xiaomi 15 series will be the first to sport its top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC in global markets. Paired with the company’s HyperOS 2 and its revamped HyperCore technology, these upcoming devices promise a serious performance boost. Xiaomi’s teasers hint at a “one touch fast, one glance new” experience, suggesting a buttery-smooth and incredibly responsive user interface.

While the company remains tight-lipped about the Xiaomi 15’s storage configurations, leaks suggest the Pro version will come packing up to a whopping 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Early glimpses of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro reveal a sleek aesthetic with a micro-curved screen and a Leica-tuned triple-camera setup. The rear camera module echoes the symmetrical design language of the previous generation, and the color options appear to be similar as well.

Both smartphones feature 2K resolution and sport slim bezels and rounded corners, with the standard model boasting an aviation-grade aluminum frame. The Pro variant steps things up with a quad-curved panel protected by the brand’s Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0 display glass, all in a slim 8.35mm-thick package weighing 213 grams. The standard model is confirmed to pack a 6.36-inch screen.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are expected to feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, ensuring they can handle the elements, as well as life’s little and random mishaps.

Talking about the optics on the Pro unit, leaks point to a triple-camera system featuring a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 900 series primary sensor, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and macro capabilities, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide.

Not to be outdone, the vanilla edition is rumored to boast a similarly impressive camera array, with a 50-megapixel OV50H main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. Selfie lovers will appreciate the 32-megapixel front-facing camera on both models.

Leaked information suggests the Xiaomi 15 will pack a substantial 5,500mAh battery, a significant upgrade from its predecessor’s 4,610mAh cell. This larger battery will support both 90-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging. The Xiaomi 15 Pro, on the other hand, is said to house an even larger 6,100mAh battery with 90-watt fast charging, a step up from the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s 4,880mAh cell.
