The electric-car scene in the Philippines is getting a serious jolt of energy, largely thanks to brands that break the misconception that EV ownership is prohibitively expensive, especially in the country.

A new wave of affordable electric vehicles is here, and one of the brands leading the charge is VinFast, the automotive arm of mega-conglomerate Vingroup. But this company isn’t just making waves in Vietnam, where it recently became the country’s bestselling automaker.

VinFast has already planted its flag in the United States, Canada, and Europe, proving it’s ready to rumble with the big players. And even though it’s a relatively new kid on the block, founded in 2017, VinFast is aggressively gunning for one of the top spots in the EV world, with the promise of making electric mobility accessible to everyone without compromising on tech and performance.

Enter the VinFast VF5 and VinFast VF3 — the dynamic duo poised to shake up the Philippines’ entry-level EV market. Watch the embedded video for a deep dive as we explore what these electrifying newcomers bring to the table.

Locally, the VinFast VF5 is priced as low as P992,000 (around $17,144) with a battery subscription, but for a limited time, you can get it for as low as P880,000 ($15,085) without battery or P1,050,000 ($18,147) with the battery included. That’s a serious discount, but it’s only good until November 15. Every VF5 rolls in with a home charger — and they’ll even set it up for you! — floor mats, and a tire-repair kit. Plus, you can trick out your ride with four stylish colors: VinFast Blue, Neptune Grey, Crimson Red, and Brahimny White.

If the VF5 still stretches your budget, don’t worry. The company has an even more affordable ace up its sleeves: the VinFast VF3. This mini EV, which should hit local roads beginning this November, according to local reps we spoke to; starts at just P645,000 ($11,190) with a battery subscription; and, dare we say, might be even more fun to zip around town in.
