Remember that cool handheld console with augmented-reality glasses that TECNO showed off at MWC 2024? Well, good news: It’s officially up for preorder on Kickstarter.

As we reported in February, the TECNO Pocket Go is unlike anything we’ve seen before. It ditches the traditional built-in screen in favor of a pair of slick AR glasses called AR Pocket Vision, giving you a truly immersive and portable gaming experience. Imagine rocking a 215-inch virtual display wherever you go. Without a built-in display, this half of the system boasts a 50% smaller footprint and is 30% lighter than traditional Windows-based gaming handhelds.

Don’t let its compact size fool you. This thing is a beast under the hood, packing an AMD Ryzen 7 8840 HS processor, 16GB of RAM, and a massive 1TB of storage. It’s basically a gaming PC squeezed into an Xbox-style wireless controller. Plus, with a replaceable 50Wh battery and an efficient cooling system, you should be able to game for hours without breaking a sweat.

The AR Pocket Vision glasses are the real stars of the show, though. They feature a crystal-clear 0.71-inch micro OLED screen that projects the massive 215-inch display from six meters away. And with adjustable diopter settings and compatibility with prescription glasses, they’re designed for maximum comfort — no more squinting at a tiny screen.

The brand is also pushing the boundaries of immersion with 6D gaming experience on the TECNO Pocket Go. Imagine this: The console captures your every move with a six-axis gyroscope, tracking 3m200 head movements per second for ultra-precise motion controls. Then, it takes things even further by syncing sound, light, and haptic feedback through an X-axis linear motor and TECNO’s proprietary vibration algorithm. To top it all off, BassFans nanomaterial delivers rich, booming audio that dynamically responds to the action on screen.

So yeah, if you’re ready to dive into what could be the future of handheld gaming, just head over to Kickstarter to preorder the TECNO Pocket Go and AR Pocket Vision glasses. The bundle starts at $869 — the launch special price. Shipping is expected to begin in December 2024. But here’s the catch: If you wait until November to buy it outside of Kickstarter, you’ll be paying a premium.
