OPPO is taking aim at Apple’s latest smartphones with its newly unveiled OPPO Find X8 and OPPO Find X8 Pro. This flagship duo boasts the all-new Hasselblad Master Camera System with three native film styles, plus a host of other premium hardware features.

The phones just made their debut at an event in China, alongside Android 15-based ColorOS 15, which was unveiled recently and features a refreshed design and a focus on AI features.
But ColorOS 15 isn’t just a fresh coat of paint on Android 15. According to OPPO, it’s a full-blown UI overhaul. Expect a more visually engaging experience with redesigned icons, dynamic lighting effects, and subtle touches like natural light and shadow elements throughout. But the real magic lies under the hood. OPPO’s new Aurora and Tidal Engine brings system-level rendering enhancements, allowing app animations to run in parallel. Translation? A buttery-smooth experience, even when you’re rapidly switching between apps — say goodbye to lag and hello to seamless multitasking.
And it’s not just about aesthetics. ColorOS 15 packs some serious AI-powered image-processing capabilities. Imagine removing unwanted people or reflections from your photos with a single tap, or rescuing blurry portraits with intelligent blur removal. There’s even a clever image upscaling feature to breathe new life into your old photos.
In China, the OPPO Find X8 starts at ¥4,199 (around $590 or P34,169) for the 12GB/256GB base configuration and goes up to ¥5,499 ($773 or P44,747) for the 16GB/1TB kit, while the OPPO Find X8 Pro is priced from ¥5,299 ($745 or P43,120) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The top-of-the-line 16GB/1TB variant costs ¥6,499 ($913 or P52,885) and the version with satellite connectivity will set you back ¥6,799 ($955 or P55,326) for the same configuration. Both devices are already available for preorder in China.
The good news is that OPPO will be bringing both models to international markets, preloaded with ColorOS 15, of course.
“The Find X8 series sets a new standard for smartphone excellence, combining our superior Hasselblad Master Camera System with next-generation performance, battery technology, and a leap forward for OPPO AI as part of ColorOS 15. The Find X8 is incredibly thin and light despite its ultra-powerful performance across the board, and the Find X8 Pro is a camera flagship pushing industry limits with its incredible zoom,” said OPPO SVP and chief product officer Pete Lau.
So, does this mean the Find X8 series will make its way to the Philippines, too? Your guess is as good as ours, but we’re optimistic that the company’s local arm will finally heed our calls for the local launch of a new OPPO flagship. You might remember 2020’s Find X2 Pro as the last game that OPPO launched here. Back then, the phone was priced at P65,990 ($1,140) at launch.
OPPO’s press release
Taking aim at Apples
With the Find X8, OPPO is clearly eyeing the recently announced Apple iPhone 16 Pro, with the former sporting a redesigned flat-edged chassis, a higher-capacity battery, and a more advanced periscope-style telephoto lens, to name a few. And yet, the brand has somehow managed to make the Find X8 thinner at 7.85mm compared to the iPhone 16 Pro’s 8.25mm profile. With the camera bump, the gap is actually bigger between the two flagships.
Both the OPPO Find X8 and OPPO Find X8 Pro are equipped with a 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400 5G chipset that just hit the mobile scene earlier this month. The Taiwanese manufacturer’s latest top-end chip claims a 35% performance jump in single-core performance, 28% multi-core performance, and a whopping 40% increase in battery life.
MediaTek also threw in a top-of-the-line Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU that boasts a 41% peak-performance improvement and 40% faster ray tracing compared to the Dimensity 9300’s built-in graphics — all while using up to 44% less power, allowing you to play the most demanding mobile games longer. During the launch event, OPPO unveiled the chipset’s Antutu benchmark score — a casual 3,104,618 points. For reference, that’s a cool 1 million more than the score the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro achieved in our tests (2,104,845).
But, of course, the main highlight is the camera system. The company is clearly pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography with the Find X8 series. The non-Pro model boasts a triple-camera setup, headlined by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens powered by Sony’s LYT-600 sensor. Meanwhile, the Find X8 Pro takes things up a notch with a dual periscope telephoto configuration, featuring not one, but two 50-megapixel sensors (IMX858 and LYT-600) designed to capture stunning portraits and zoom shots with incredible detail. And don’t forget the 50-megapixel IMX966 ultra-wide lens, ensuring you can capture sweeping landscapes and epic group shots without breaking a sweat.
But OPPO isn’t just relying on hardware, with AI poised to play a crucial role in the Find X8 series’ camera experience, as we mentioned earlier. Both devices feature a dedicated hardware button to summon OPPO’s AI assistant, which goes beyond the typical voice commands and smart home controls. This AI assistant is also your photography sidekick, capable of performing impressive feats like unblurring or sharpening images, removing unwanted people from videos, automatically cropping and upscaling photos, and even eliminating reflections with a single tap. It’s like having a photo editor in your pocket.
We’ll probably have more to share about the Find X8 series as soon OPPO sets a global release date. Maybe we’ll even hear about a local unveiling soon. Cross those fingers! In the meantime, just follow OPPO’s Facebook page for updates.
