Following the launch of the latest Huawei MateBook X Pro in international markets, including the Philippines, where the high-performance laptop arrived with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor inside, Huawei has unveiled another powerhouse PC based on a Core Ultra processor.

This time around, the newly launched Huawei MateBook GT 14 caters to professionals and gaming enthusiasts alike. In China, the company has officially kicked off presales, and its gaming laptop comes in various configurations to cater to different needs and budgets.

The top-tier MateBook GT 14 — equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, a hefty 32GB of RAM, and a spacious 2TB SSD — is priced at ¥10,999 (around $1,531 or P88,666). For those seeking a balance of performance and cost, the Intel Core Ultra 7 variant with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage is available for ¥9,199 ($1,280 or P74,156). Alternatively, the Intel Core Ultra 5 processor can be paired with either 32GB RAM and 1TB storage for ¥8,199 ($1,141 or P66,095) or 16GB RAM and 1TB storage for ¥7,499 ($1,041 or P60,452).

At its core lies the same Intel-based platform found in the current-gen MateBook X Pro, alongside a more advanced cooling solution, to enable the laptop to achieve an impressive peak performance of 115 watts. The Huawei MateBook GT 14 also boasts a stunning 14.2-inch OLED display with a 2.8K resolution and a highly responsive 144Hz refresh rate, delivering vibrant visuals and smooth motion.

For those seeking even more graphical prowess, Huawei has introduced the Hi GT Cube, a ¥3,999 ($557 or P32,237) external GPU enclosure that transforms the laptop into a gaming behemoth. This is a first for the Chinese tech giant, and the modular approach provides flexibility for users to enhance performance as needed.

Powered by AMD’s Radeon 7600M XT graphics card, the GT Cube leverages a Navi 33 GPU with 2,048 stream processors. Coupled with 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, it offers substantial graphical muscle for demanding tasks and games. Connectivity options are quite plentiful and include a DP1.4a port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a power port, and a USB4 port, providing flexibility for various display and peripheral connections.

Essentially, the Hi GT Cube transforms the MateBook GT 14 into a formidable gaming and creative powerhouse, offering users a convenient and efficient way to boost performance. To keep the system cool under pressure, the brand has implemented advanced thermal management solutions, including metalized-graphene cooling technology and a sophisticated fan system.

But the Huawei MateBook GT 14 is not just about raw power; it also prioritizes user comfort with a comfortable keyboard and a spacious trackpad. Connectivity options on the laptop itself are comprehensive, featuring Wi-Fi 6E for high-speed wireless connections, as well as Thunderbolt 4 ports for versatile device compatibility. The laptop’s sleek design and relatively lightweight form factor make it suitable for on-the-go professionals.

The new MateBook model packs a 70Wh battery backup, ensuring users can work or play for extended periods without worrying about running out of power. Huawei’s SuperCharge technology, capable of delivering 140 watts of power, provides a massive boost to the battery. According to the company, a quick 10-minute charge should be enough to provide up to three hours of usage.

While the MateBook GT 14 is undoubtedly a formidable device, its availability outside China remains uncertain. Still, this is a bold and ambitious product that represents a significant step forward for the company. By combining top-end hardware, innovative cooling, and a focus on flexibility, Huawei has created a gaming laptop that has the potential to disrupt the high-performance market. Hopefully, the MateBook GT 14 launches in other markets like the Philippines soon.
