In a display of might, Xiaomi launched its most exciting products to date after CEO and founder Lei Jun’s annual speech. Not only were the Mix Flip and Mix Fold 4 introduced, devices from the Watch S4 Sport to the latest Redmi smartphone were announced as well.

Let’s talk about the latter, the Redmi K70 Ultra — or the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition for some — for those who are on the lookout for a performance-focused beast.

This one is engineered for speed. At the heart of the Redmi K70 Ultra is a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus 5G chipset backed by up to a whopping 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The processor’s Cortex-X4 core can reach speeds of 3.4GHz to help deliver a smooth and responsive performance.

The most premium K70 series model features a discrete D1 graphics chip that’s built on a 12nm process and offers a triple interpolation boost and a 15% reduction in power consumption during gaming. A specialized 3D cooling chamber, on the other hand, keeps things cool, reducing temperatures by 3 degrees.

A huge 5,500mAh battery should keep you powered through the day. When it’s time to recharge, the Redmi K70 Ultra supports 120-watt fast charging for a quick top-up. Additionally, Xiaomi’s Pengpai P2 and G1 chips work together to optimize charging efficiency and protect battery health.

Front and center of the phone is a 6.67-inch 1.5K OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch-sampling rate, and 2,160Hz instantaneous touch-sampling rate. Brightness can reach 1,600 nits nominal and a peak of 4,000 nits. It also uses a 3,840Hz PWM dimming technology for flicker-free viewing.

Imaging is handled by a rear camera system that includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 main sensor with a large 1/1.56″ size, an 8-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies, there’s a 20-megapixel camera on the front.

And it doesn’t hurt that the Redmi K70 Ultra is built to last, featuring an IP68 rated for dust and water resistance, a sturdy metal frame, and Xiaomi’s Longjing glass for both the front and back.

In China, the Redmi K70 Ultra is priced as follows:

  • 12GB/256GB: ¥2,599 (around P20,861 or $358)
  • 12GB/512GB: ¥2,899 (P23,269 or $399)
  • 16GB/512GB: ¥3,199 (P25,676 or $440)
  • 16GB/1TB: ¥3,599 (P28,887 or $495)
  • 24GB/1TB: ¥3,999 (P32,098 or $550)

That last variant is the Redmi K70 Ultra Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse Edition, which looks as cool as it sounds.

There’s a rumor that claims a tweaked version of this Redmi model will be launched globally as the Xiaomi 14T Pro. We’ll see in a few months’ time.
