Fancy yourself a serious PC gamer in need of a gaming handheld? The MSI Claw is now more affordable in the Philippines.

MSI is offering a huge discount on its first gaming handheld, dropping the price of the Intel Core Ultra 5 variant of the Claw from P45,995 (around $783) to just P40,995 ($698). The faster Core Ultra 7 model also gets a price drop, now down to P47,995 ($817) from P50,995 ($868) at launch. Both models come with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM along with 512GB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage. Take note that the offer is good until June 30, 2024, so you may want to decide quickly for this offer.

A latecomer to the portable PC party (it debuted earlier this year at the 2024 CES in Las Vegas, Nevada), the MSI Claw packs some serious bite. Its Intel Core Ultra processors promise top-notch performance, thanks to a new architecture, AI smarts, and a groundbreaking Intel ARC GPU. This graphics unit, wielding up to eight Xe cores, can supposedly deliver smooth 1080p gaming at medium settings with a little help from Intel’s XeSS super sampling tech.

Aesthetically, the Claw bears a resemblance to the original ASUS ROG Ally. Both share a 7-inch, 16:9 touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution. The controller layout also mirrors the Xbox design, with diagonal joysticks nestled beneath the familiar A, B, X, and Y buttons. However, MSI trumps ASUS in the grip department, offering larger, more comfortable handles. The Claw has a larger 53Wh battery compared to the Ally’s 40Wh, too, which should translate to a claimed two hours of usage under heavy loads.

Durability is another area where the MSI Claw extends its reach. It uses Hall Effect joysticks, a tech known for its resistance to the dreaded joystick drift that plagues most controllers. This, coupled with the hefty battery and comfortable design, makes the device a compelling option for gamers seeking a powerful, portable PC experience.
