Value-focused technology brand Infinix is making some serious noise on the global smartphone scene.
According to the latest IDC [International Data Corporation] data, Infinix rocketed to the top of the year-over-year growth charts for major smartphone brands in the first quarter of 2024. The company more than doubled its market share, jumping from 1.7% to a healthy 3.7%. This impressive performance comes alongside a whopping 150.6% increase in global phone shipments, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of impressive growth.
But this surge isn’t just a global phenomenon. Infinix has been crushing it in key emerging markets like Africa and Southeast Asia, securing top-five positions in over 20 countries. The Philippines, a key market in Southeast Asia, is a prime example, where Infinix took the crown as the country’s leading smartphone brand with a dominant 27.1% market share in the first quarter of 2024 — a massive 19.7-point swing YoY.
Of course, Infinix’s parent company, Transsion Holdings, has also benefited from the brand’s success, now ranking fourth in global smartphone shipments with an estimated 10% market share. In the Philippines, the Shenzhen-based OEM outperformed other vendors in Q1 2024 to hold onto the top spot with a significant share of 44%, reflecting a remarkable 188% annual growth.
According to Infinix general manager Tony Zhao: “We are absolutely thrilled with our exceptional performance in the first quarter of 2024. Our entire dedicated team has worked tirelessly to bring young, tech-savvy consumers around the world the very best products at attainable price points. The launch of our highly acclaimed Infinix NOTE 40 Series and Infinix GT 20 Pro this year has been instrumental in our success, as we have strategically focused on addressing key consumer pain points, particularly in areas of charging capabilities and gaming performance.”

So, what’s the brand’s secret to success? A laser focus on young consumers. This, coupled with cross-industry partnerships and creative campaigns, appears to be resonating with this demographic. Not to mention, its recent smartphone releases are packed with features young users crave, like super-fast charging and smooth, high-refresh displays. The recently launched Infinix NOTE 40 Series and GT 20 Pro are notable examples, promising feature-rich experiences at aggressive price points.
Adding to its accolades this year, Infinix has also been named one of the top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders by Kantar and Google, while Fast Company placed Infinix sixth in its World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024 list within the region — the only mobile brand to make the cut.
Looking ahead, Infinix seems poised to keep the momentum going, especially on the local market. Its commitment to affordable innovation and youth-focused marketing is a winning combination. Expect to see even more exciting products from Infinix in the coming quarters. In particular, keep an eye out for the Infinix GT 20 Pro with a 144Hz display and a powerful 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate 5G chipset under the hood. The phone is expected to debut soon in the Philippines.
