vivo will release another smartphone in the Philippines — this time, under its value-focused Y series.
The vivo Y100 4G in black and green color variants will be available locally starting April 4 on Shopee. As a matter of fact, it’s already listed on the e-commerce platform with a discounted price of P11,749 or roughly $204 converted for the variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The budget phone has a suggested retail price of P14,999 ($267).
For that bit-on-the-high-side amount, you’re looking at a 120Hz AMOLED display that is said to deliver up to 1,200 nits of brightness, a plastic body with a photochromic finish at the back, and a 5,000mAh battery that supports fast charging up to 80 watts. That’s good enough for an 80% charge in just 30 minutes, according to vivo.
The 50-megapixel rear camera is paired with a 2-megapixel filler sensor and a flicker sensor housed in a separate camera ring to make it look like the vivo Y100 4G has three cameras at the back. Essentially, you’re looking at one dedicated camera on the rear. There’s no ultrawide here. The front camera, meanwhile, packs 8 megapixels.
The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 4G chipset, which is basically an overclocked version of the popular — and still widely used — Snapdragon 680 SoC from 2021.
The vivo Y100 4G offers a mixed bag of features. While the fast charging and vibrant display are appealing, the camera setup and dated processor raise concerns about value for money. Then again, this upcoming model might offer the best experience for your needs.
