Transsion Holdings sub-brand Itel will release its first cost-effective gaming phone in the Philippines soon, based on an online listing.
The Itel RS4 will be the brand’s first gaming-centric device at local retail, to be available via Shopee this April 15. You can find it listed on Lazada as well, albeit without any pricing and launch details.
Thankfully, Itel’s Shopee store has provided the clarity we need: the base RS4 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage will carry a suggested retail price of P7,999 (around $142 converted) at launch, while the 12GB/256GB variant will cost P9,999 ($177). In the Philippines, the Itel RS4 will be released in Lurex Black, Slivery White, and Elegant Beige color variants.
Okay, let’s pop the hood. Inside, the smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate 4G chipset, the same 6nm SoC you’ll find in the recently announced TECNO POVA 6 and POVA 6 NEO.
Design-wise, the RS4 surprisingly takes after the realme 12 Plus 5G, which launched earlier this year, with its large circular camera island and zipper-like design accent in the middle resembling a racing-stripe decal. The beige variant, which has a faux-leather back with a slightly different vertical strip, looks identical to realme’s mainstream phone in its Navigator Beige colorway.
The front of the phone has a 6.56-inch punch-hole display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling, but sadly it’s only HD+. Good news is, the refresh rate is nice and smooth. It’s also got a big battery with super-fast charging to boot. The Itel RS4 packs a 5,000mAh battery along with 45-watt fast charging, which is plenty fast in this price range.
