While Canalys hasn’t released any recent data on the Philippine smartphone market, the market-research firm’s Q4 2023 estimates for the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Greater China, have surfaced.
Based on the latest data, Samsung still proved to be the most popular brand in APAC despite losing the crown to Apple on the global stage. The South Korean manufacturer captured 20% of the market, big enough to take the top spot even though it experienced a year-over-year decline of 8% — the only one among the top five smartphone vendors to suffer a downswing.

Landing second place was Apple with a market share of 16% and an annual growth of 15%. Worldwide, the American technology giant led the category from October to December 2023 with a 24% share of shipments because of the iPhone 15 series launch, according to Canalys.
Xiaomi, which is about to showcase its “human x car x home ecosystem” at the Mobile World Congress 2024, fell to third place with a 14% unit share. However, it achieved a high growth of 34% YoY.
Coming in close fourth in the fourth quarter of 2023 was vivo, which captured 13% of the market. It was the only BBK Electronics brand to enter the latest APAC ranking.
Rounding out the top five smartphone vendors for the region last quarter was Transsion with an 11% unit share and a whopping 93% annual growth. Transsion handles mobile brands that include TECNO, Infinix, and Itel.
