Waiting for this? HONOR is finally bringing the world’s thinnest and lightest book-style foldable smartphone to the Philippines.
(Update, February 21: The HONOR Magic V2 has landed in the Philippines!)
The HONOR Magic V2 is scheduled to unfold in the country alongside the HONOR X8b barely two weeks from now — on February 21 specifically — promising to let you “experience magic beyond the galaxy.” This development comes ahead of the Porsche Design HONOR Magic V2 RSR’s global launch at MWC [Mobile World Congress] 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, which we’ll be attending.
Just how slim is this device? Think four P5 coins, as can be seen in the teaser video we posted on our social-media platforms last week. Think as thin as your average non-foldable flagship phone. Crazy. The unit is just 9.9mm thick when folded, ushering the thickness of a handset of its kind below 1cm for the first time and resulting in a weight of only 231g.

HONOR achieved this feat by using a silicon-carbon type for the Magic V2’s dual-cell battery that’s rated at 5,000mAh. And then there’s the use of materials like the titanium alloy in the device’s hinge, which can be folded more than 400,000 times, plus the second-generation nanocrystal glass, which is said to offer 10 times greater drop resistance compared to typical glass.
“Engineered to spur mainstream adoption, the HONOR Magic V2 … redefines industry benchmarks with significant improvements across form factor, battery, display, and user-experience aspects,” said HONOR Philippines vice president Stephen Cheng.
The 7.92-inch inner OLED screen and the 6.43-inch outer one features up to 120Hz refresh rate. You also get the industry’s highest 3,840 PWM Dimming technology — a first on a foldable display.
The HONOR Magic V2 is also equipped with a 50-megapixel triple rear camera, a 16-megapixel selfie shooter, support for 66 watts of fast charging, MagicOS 7.2, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 5G processor paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Catch the foldable’s 6 p.m. launch live on Facebook on the 21st to know which version will become available in the Philippines.
