Fast-rising technology brand TECNO today announced a partnership with Dolby Laboratories, an industry leader in entertainment experiences.
(Update, February 26: The TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G has launched, and we’ve got our first-impressions video up!)
The collaboration promises to introduce an immersive spatial audio experience through Dolby Atmos, which will be featured first on the upcoming TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G, launching at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. We at Revü will be there at the global event to bring you more details about the new model, as well as other phones on the POVA 6 roster.
For now, it’s worth noting that previous iterations of the POVA series were aggressively priced in the Philippines, with last year’s TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G debuting with a suggested retail price of P9,999 (roughly $177).
Support for Dolby Atmos via the built-in speakers is usually reserved for expensive, flagship-grade smartphones, so it’s great to see TECNO making the technology available to more consumers.
“At TECNO, we’re constantly looking for new ways to elevate the user experience and bring more high-end capabilities to our devices,” said TECNO general manager Jack Guo. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Dolby to bring Dolby Atmos to our users around the world. This exciting development will allow our users to discover a new level of audiovisual immersion and enjoyment with their TECNO smartphone.”
The POVA 6 Pro 5G is just the first in a line of Dolby Atmos-compatible devices from the company. TECNO says that future CAMON and Phantom models will debut with the surround-sound technology onboard, and that’s good news for consumers who are after a premium audio experience but might not be able to pay a high price for it.
