While OnePlus has revealed that its January 23 Smooth Beyond Belief global event will also launch another smartphone besides the OnePlus 12, it hasn’t shown how the device looks — until now, that is.
(Update, January 24: The OnePlus 12R is official!)
In a teaser posted earlier, the OPPO sub-brand gave us a pretty good look at the OnePlus 12R. The unit resembles the more premium OnePlus 12, except that the circular camera module on the back is less pronounced and doesn’t have the Hasselblad branding.
There are two color options shown. The blue variant comes in a glossy finish, while the OnePlus 12R in gray gets a matte texture. But both do have a matte metal frame.
Refreshingly blue.

Say hello to the #OnePlus12R

Notice that the alert slider is now on the left side. This is supposedly to accommodate a new antenna system that will improve the phone’s performance, especially during online gaming sessions.
We have yet to hear any official announcement about the OnePlus 12R’s key specs, but leaks claim that the upcoming model features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 5G processor, a 5,500mAh battery with support for up to 100 watts of fast charging, and a 6.78-inch curved-edge OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s expected to sport a 50-megapixel triple-rear-camera setup, a 16-megapixel selfie shooter, and Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 user interface.
This will be the first time since 2021 that a OnePlus R series smartphone won’t be exclusive to the Indian market; the OnePlus 12R, — rumored to have a starting price of around ₹40,000 (roughly P26,657 or $480) — is also confirmed to launch in “North America, Europe, and other parts of the world.” Which is why we can’t wait to see if it will become available in the Philippines, too. Cross your fingers.
