At an event that also launched devices such as the Redmi Watch 4, Redmi Buds 5 Pro and Redmi Book 2024, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi K70 series in China.
The lineup comprises the Redmi K70E, Redmi K70, and Redmi K70 Pro, with the most affordable of the three launching as the first smartphone to use the new MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra and the Pro model getting an Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse edition.
The Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro are quite similar to each other. Both devices feature a 5,000mAh battery with 120-watt fast charging, a 5000 mm2 heat-dissipation system, Android 14-based Xiaomi HyperOS, and a 6.67-inch 2K OLED screen with 4,000 nits of peak brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 2,160Hz instantaneous touch-sampling rate. The panel is co-developed by Xiaomi and consumer electronics and appliance company TCL.
For imaging, the two phones are equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie shooter and three rear cameras headlined by a 50-megapixel 1/1.55-inch main sensor with optical image stabilization.
How do they differ? As the more premium of the duo, the Redmi K70 Pro packs a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile platform, paired with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. The regular K70 relies on last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and offers a maximum of 16GB RAM. The primary rear sensor is assisted by 50-megapixel telephoto and 8-megapixel ultrawide cameras on the Pro and 8-megapixel ultrawide and 2-megapixel macro shooters on the vanilla K70.
As for the Redmi K70E, which is rumored to launch as the POCO X6 Pro on the global market, the unit gets a 5,500mAh battery with support for 90-watt fast charging, a 6.67-inch 1.5K OLED display, and a 64-megapixel triple-camera setup on the back. The front-facing shooter is still 16 megapixels. And it also runs HyperOS, which, as we previously reported, is described as a “human-centric operating system designed and tailored to connect personal devices, cars, and smart home products in a smart ecosystem.”
